fashion a la lulu

little L has quite enough outfits  ... but yet never enough :)

i saw an online tutorial for a t-shirt-dress and little L and I fell so much in love with it that we decided to try it.

we got a few fun looking t-shirts at our favorite thrift store and (here comes the hard part) cut them into pieces ... strips to be correct.

we sewed the pieces together, seems showing for a little ruffle effect and to hide the stitch-line.
we cut the new created fabric into shape and sewed it onto the top part of one of the shirts.
i should have used shirts in larger sizes, even a simple a-line didn't quite work ... it's more an "i" line :)
but ... my little L LOVES it and thats what matters.

fashion a la lulu

the i-line dress :)

i used a few extra stripes and sewed a patch-work-scarf/belt out of it.

it looks very cute ... but then anything on this little modeling-loving body looks cute!

she went to sleep in it and proclaimed "i want to wear it tomorrow and then the next morrow and the next morrow too"

thats what i call true heart and soul work success :)

to heal a broken ... bone

we are going to see a little patient today who has a broken tibia and is confined to a wheelchair (just for now).

so we thought we needed to bring some LOVE to help with the healing ...

all you need is love and

~ a little time and some colorful wool (and a big cup of latte)

~ a few instructions on treble and double stitches (it's been so long since I have touched wool & a crochet needle)

~ lacy inspiration

~ felt scraps

~ hot glue

et voila ...

three hearts to pin into your hair and make you look pretty
(even if you have to race around in a wheelchair for a little, short while)

little L added a personalized note for our "broken" friend which will surely brighten up her day :)

instructions on how to make many, many, lovely, colorful, pretty hearts can be found here

see you soon!

lovely lavender

we LOVE lavender in the house!!! LOVE it!

heather, at shivaya naturals, keeps a bowl of cold water with a few lavender buds on hand all day, for moments of when a mama needs to recharge quickly.

we have a big bag of lavender laying around here and besides the rice pillows that i made with them i hadn't really found another use for them ... until now that is.

i made a little reusable/refillable filter-sack out of potato-sack-fabric (we tried it with just the loose buds in the water but the wash-towell and your face would get covered in soaked lavender buds and my Ls were not too excited about that) and we now enjoy a refreshing, lovely lavender bath whenever needed (which in L's case is every 5 minutes :)

it smells so wonderful and an instant sense of calm comes over you as soon as the cool, lavender soaked towel touches your face.

mr. c reminded me that i used to carry a small bottle of lavender oil with me when i was pregnant with L, since this was the only thing that could calm my always unhappy prego-stomach.
no wonder my L loves it so much!

try it and enjoy it!
