super student cape

sometimes real magic is needed to assist the little people of the house with big tasks.

this time it was the littlest who needed some magical help.
lately she hasn't been the biggest fan of following rules, especially at school, and has run into some (itty, bitty) trouble.

after more than 7 years of being on the parenting front we have learned a thing or two about using magic to get the little ones to do what they really don't want to do (without knowing that they actually are doing it :)

so little L needed some serious circle-time-listening & stay-put-power and i started to search deeper and deeper in my little bag of magic.

none to my surprise I reached in deep enough and pulled out ...

ta-dahhh ...

~ super student cape

~ sparkling, silky orange on the inside and extra shimmery, sparkly purple on the outside

~ just what my little super pre-school hero needed

~ sewing these two super slippery materials together wasn't quite as fun and easy as I had hoped it would be BUT it was well worth the frustration!

~ the little one LOVES it and put it right away to the test

(after modeling it for me for 30 minutes, which she obviously loves!)

so off she went to school, equipped with her super student cape and protected from getting into mischief by it's magical powers.

i also added an itty bit of a reward and created this for her ...

~ an earning book to collect stickers for good student behavior

~ every time she makes it through class without getting into trouble and sits during circle time (which is just way too boring for her - according to HER) she gets a sticker

~ earn 6 stickers and you get a self-selected reward (this is where the real magic sets in ;)

~ $6.99 for two weeks of letting me pick her up without hearing "well ... we had a little issue today ..."
is money well spent in my book of magic!

little L has quite enough outfits  ... but yet never enough :)

i saw an online tutorial for a t-shirt-dress and little L and I fell so much in love with it that we decided to try it.

we got a few fun looking t-shirts at our favorite thrift store and (here comes the hard part) cut them into pieces ... strips to be correct.

we sewed the pieces together, seems showing for a little ruffle effect and to hide the stitch-line.
we cut the new created fabric into shape and sewed it onto the top part of one of the shirts.
i should have used shirts in larger sizes, even a simple a-line didn't quite work ... it's more an "i" line :)
but ... my little L LOVES it and thats what matters.

i used a few extra stripes and sewed a patch-work-scarf/belt out of it.

it looks very cute ... but then anything on this little modeling-loving body looks cute!

she went to sleep in it and proclaimed "i want to wear it tomorrow and then the next morrow and the next morrow too"

thats what i call true heart and soul work success :)
